Sangria is one of my FAVORITE cocktails! It’s seriously the best. The first time I ever had sangria was when I visited Barcelona during my study abroad, and I think we ordered a pitcher at our table for basically every meal while we were there. When I got home from my trip, I knew I had to make my own. So, one day when I was having a pool party at my house, I decided to give it a try and it was a HIT! By the end of the night, all the sangria was gone and everyone was snacking on the fruit that had been soaking in the pitcher. It’s definitely a crowdpleaser. My recipe is definitely not the only way to make Sangria, nor is it traditional Spanish Sangria, but it literally takes two seconds to make and only requires three ingredients. So, here’s how to make quick and easy sangria.
1 Bottle of Red Sangria
1 Liter of Sprite or Lemon-lime soda
Grab your favorite pitcher and pour your entire bottle of Sangria into the pitcher. It should fill up your pitcher about 1/2 way to 3/4 of the way, depending on how large your pitcher is.
Next, we will add in the fruit. If you want to cut up your own fruit you definitely can. You can choose your fruit based on your taste, there’s no right or wrong fruit for sangria. I like to add strawberries, pineapples, lemons, watermelon, honeydew, etc. If you are like me, and you’re always looking for the fastest way to get the job done. I like to buy the containers of mixed fruit that’s already cut up at the grocery store, and use that fruit. Usually that has all the fruit you need, plus you don’t have to spend a lot of time slicing. Usually these fruit bowls will have cantaloupe and grapes, and I prefer to leave those out.
Now that we’ve added our fruit, it’s time to grab the Sprite, or your favorite lemon-lime soda. With the Sangria and fruit alone, your pitcher should be about halfway to three quarters of the way full, depending on how large it is. Top off the mixture by adding in the Sprite. Pour in enough Sprite to fill the pitcher to the top.
Now that everything is mixed up, it’s time to stir everything up to balance it out. Once you’ve stirred, it’s the perfect time to let your pitcher chill in the fridge so the fruit has time to infuse into the Sangria.
Serve over ice and top it off with some fruit! Best enjoyed with great friends, poolside 😉
