I don’t know what it’s like where you guys are from, but here in Alabama it is HOT. Like y’all, I’m sweating as I’m walking to my car to go to lunch. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Mother Nature is basically forcing us to have a pool party. So, this week I’m sharing how to perfect the pool party set up, so that you can be the hostess with the mostest, which is ideal, right?
Ok, so let’s get into it. I am definitely one for entertaining. I love to create that perfect tablescape, and don’t even get me started on how much I love good serving-ware. Finding the perfect serving pieces will help you set the tone of your decor, and will help you figure out the look and feel of your set up.
The Drink Station
I started with setting up a drink station, because everyone is going to want something to sip on all day. The drink station can become a gathering place for the party. Adding a decanter is the perfect centerpiece for your drink station, and you can fill it with lemonade, a boozy punch, sangria (this 3 ingredient sangria is my fave), or you could infuse water with cucumbers, lemons and limes. Plus, a good decanter makes for great presentation, and adds a fresh feel.
Did you know that a cute glass makes your drink taste better? 😉 Adding some really cute glasses, will help pull together the look of your drink station, and it will make your guests feel like they are getting the VIP treatment. Because cute cocktail glasses just add a nice detail that feel much better than your typical solo cups. These are acrylic, so they are safe for using around the pool.
Something to think about for your drink station are linens. Having a bright colored tablecloth can really take it up a notch, and adds a great pop of color. These cocktail napkins are also a cute detail, even though they are meant to be more decorative, rather than a practical. Paper napkins are definitely a must, and you can always find super cute ones at TJ Maxx. Speaking of TJ Maxx, I found these super cute coasters like these flamingo ones there, and they are perfect for people to place their drinks on while they jump in for a dip. And everyone needs a fashionable, yet functional bottle opener, like the pineapple one shown here.
Low on space? Make room at your drink station for some snacks using bright colored trays and bowls are perfect for holding chips, dips and other snacks that you can refresh throughout the day. These boozy popsicles are perfect for a mid-afternoon dessert and cocktail all in one.
Can you even have a pool party without these floats, y’all? These are amazing because they are decorative AND fun! Everyone is going to be fighting over who gets to ride the flamingo float. These were from Sam’s Club, and since it’s getting close to the end of the season they are going to be going on sale, so you can get them for a steal. Definitely a must for your pool party set up.
Beach Towel Storage
A straw tote or beach bag is perfect for stowing away extra beach towels for your guests.
Create spaces for your guests to lounge with bright colored Adirondack chairs, and drape your colorful towels on them to coordinate your colors. OR you could use outdoor throw pillows in your chairs, to add that element of cozy.
Use bright colored garden stools (this one is from Michael’s for like $20) to create mini end tables, perfect for holding your cocktail.
These simple tips will help you create the perfect pool party setup, that will have your guests asking when they should be ready for the next one!
