The holiday season is in full swing, which is crazy to think about. The cotton fields are in full bloom here, and I had to use this post to take advantage of how beautiful they are right now. The cotton fields in bloom are about as close to a blanket of snow that Alabama will get. Speaking of snow, I think a lot of us are already getting excited about Christmas, when Thanksgiving is just right around the corner! I love Thanksgiving. I love the feeling of togetherness at a family gathering, and I’m all about the yummy Thanksgiving meal! So good! Whether you are headed to a Thanksgiving lunch (my usual routine) or to a Thanksgiving dinner, you’re probably trying to figure out what you’re going to wear. So, I’ve put together a couple of Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas to give you some inspiration for what to wear to your family get-together.
If you ask my family members, they can probably tell you that one of my favorite things to wear to a holiday celebration is a vest. But not just a regular vest, a fur vest. Fur vests are my favorite! Mostly because they are extremely versatile. They can work with a really casual look or a dressy look, and complete your look.
If you’re trying to keep it casual, I think a plaid flannel is always an option. When I think of Thanksgiving I think of the fall color scheme of reds and oranges. So that’s what I went with. I am in love with these Distressed, Army Green Rockstar Skinnies from Old Navy! They are seriously sooo soft, stretchy (a must for Thanksgiving eating 😉 ) and the color coordinates perfect with the fall vibe of Thanksgiving. The skinnies are also perfect for tucking into boots. Accessorize with a fur vest, and a felt brim hat and you’ve got a perfectly casual look for Thanksgiving that looks totally put together.

Maybe you’re headed to a dressier Thanksgiving dinner, and you need to step it up a bit. Try a fun, flowy tunic dress or even a sweater dress. I bought this dress at a local boutique last year and I’m obsessed with it. Throw on a vest and a great statement necklace, and some block heels or booties, and you’ve got a great fall ensemble. You could also pair this dress with Over-the-Knee boots if it’s a bit cooler in your area. We’ve had really unpredictable weather so either of these looks could work for Thanksgiving in Alabama haha!

Whether you’re headed to a big family gathering, just spending the day in with your immediate family members, or maybe you hit up some Black Friday sales after you’ve stuffed your face with Turkey and Sweet Potato Casserole and Dressing, I hope we can all take the moment to reflect on how thankful we are. I mean, this blog is an example of how blessed I am…I literally write about the things I buy and how to decorate your home and ways to style the clothes in your closet. In reality, a lot of people can’t buy the things they want, they may not have a home to decorate, or they lack food on their table. When you think of all the blessings we have in our life, it truly puts things into perspective, and makes our “problems” seem a lot more insignificant than we originally thought. They say the key to happiness is gratitude, and I think gratitude is something we all should practice a bit more. I hope this post gives you a little outfit inspiration for Thanksgiving and inspires you to think of everything we have to be grateful this season.
