I cannot believe this week is the first week of fall! It seems like we were just celebrating the start of summer! If you’re like me, fall may not be your favorite. I’ve never been into the whole PSL, pumpkin everything fall-vibe. BUT, I do love the look of fall layers, and I’m all about a cute pair of boots. Here in the South, fall is really all over the place, so wearing layers is a must, and light jackets that are really versatile are essential to your fall wardrobe. Especially one that’s comfortable to wear with the varying temperatures this season.
Here’s 3 Ways to Style a Jacket for Fall.
First of all, I have to mention that I bought all the jackets for fall you are going to see in this post at a consignment store. So, I know that makes it hard to share exact product links for you guys, but I wanted to be sure to let you know because I think the biggest takeaway I want you guys to get from all my posts is the fact that you DO NOT have to spend a lot of money to look FABULOUS! I cannot stress this enough. I just stumbled across all of these jackets at one of the consignment stores that I hardly ever buy clothes from. You can find super stylish pieces for affordable prices and dress them up to look like a million bucks. What’s great about this is that all of these are classic jackets that you can easily find millions of iterations of, that will also look amazing with your wardrobe. I will also link some similar styles of jackets for fall at the end of this post.
So, what are the essential jackets for fall?
1. The Military-Style Utility Jacket
I LOVE this type of Utility Jacket! Mostly, because it’s super casual and looks really cute layered. I added an oversized scarf to create that laid back, layered look. I also love that this jacket has a rhinestone detail, perfect for those of us who like a little sparkle. I mean… you’re here right? 😉 I found this scarf at Wal-Mart for $6.88. Crazy, right? And it’s super soft. I think that pairing this jacket with booties and jeans is the perfect look for a casual date night or heading to lunch with some girlfriends. I also dressed this jacket up for work this week with a cute pair of ankle pants, and it totally worked well with that look, too!
2. The Classic Trench Jacket
Every girl needs a trench coat. It’s definitely a classic piece that can be really versatile. I kept the trench coat casual for this look by pairing it with a basic striped tank, jeans and ankle boots with a little fringe to make a statement. You can add a trench coat over a dress, with a sweater and a scarf, and even layered over your work wear for a professional look for the office. OR, you can keep it super simple and classic. I think a trench would also look amazing with over the knee boots, a really gorgeous cardigan, with a scarf to top it off. But this look, is perfect for keeping it simple and it’s perfect to throw on for those crisp fall mornings, while still being a transitional look.
3. The Black Anorak
Everyone needs a good anorak for their closet. But finding one on the dressier side can be a challenge. This rain jacket is just my style with all the gold accents! It takes the look of a plain rain jacket up a notch, and creates a really chic look without a lot of effort. This type of jacket can be paired with a over-the-knee black boots, a leopard print blouse, or an all black blouse if you want an edgier, more monochromatic look.
There you have it: 3 ways to style a jacket for fall! Creating that perfectly layered look is what we all look forward to when it comes to fall fashion. So, having those perfect jackets for fall can really bring your outfit together and create a super stylish look for this season.
