‘Tis the season for holiday decor! I love the cozy feeling that holiday decor brings to a home. Last year was our first Christmas in our new home, and it was so much fun decorating! This year, I had even more fun because I was able to add even more to the decor I already had. It was fun to look back at our ornaments like our first home ornament and the ornament my mom got me when I got my pup, Finn and think about all the great memories. I also borrowed some decor from my mom that she wasn’t using and it made me happy to bring those pieces to life that have been sitting in the shed for a while. When I look at them it makes me smile. So, let’s get this Christmas Home Tour started and take a look at some Christmas decor ideas that you can implement in your home.
Christmas Tree Decor
I feel like I’m pretty traditional when it comes to my Christmas tree. I love the look of the pink and gold look, but I just can’t help but stick with my bright red and green every year. It’s just soo festive! I love decorating my tree with lots of ribbon and texture. I am loving this red and green polka dotted burlap fabric that I found a couple of years ago.I love fluffing it into the tree to give it some texture and volume. I also like to dadd bright colored ribbon and weave that through the branches running down the tree like it’s coming down from the bow on my topper. I also have a sequin garland that I like to use as well to give a little shine and color. I also found this oversized ornaments that are so fun and give a lot of personality! Some of my ornaments that I have I’ve had since I was young! I love being able to use them in my tree every year, and it makes me happy that my tree is very personal! My biggest tip is that you can always use wire ribbon and mesh fabrics or burlap to give your tree a lot of volume. Even my skinny tree feels nice and full just from adding in the ribbon, the texture, oversized ornaments, and then all my other ornaments. I also think it’s important to have some simple ornaments to use as filler. I have a huge box or red green white and gold ornaments that I use to fill in the gaps once I have all my fun ornaments on my tree!
I love the look of flocked greenery. I think the flocked trees are beautiful, but I still love my skinny tree. So, I found this flocked garland at Wal-Mart or wait for it…$12.97, you guys. Seriously, so cheap. And it looks gorgeous! It’s super full and really easy to work with. I also added in my vase filler from Hearth and Hand by Magnolia for Target just to add more dimension. You can kind of see it in mixed in. It’s the pieces with the little white berries. We’ve kept the traditional Christmas loo going twist my Nutcrackers and my cute little stocking holders I found at Target! Also, a personal touch. My Mei-Mei made my fabulous stockings and I’m in love with them. She’s so talented and I love that she made these, because they make me think of her when I see them. Appreciate the homemade goods, y’all. They are one of a kind and can always make you smile.
Y’all know I love a good tablescape. I just think it’s so much fun to dress up your dining room for all the fun festivities. I carried through the traditional red and green with a little added glamour. I found this bright red Kate Spade tablecloth at Home Goods and I knew it would be perfect! It’s so bright and festive, just my style! I love Kate Spade’s linens. They are such good quality. And you can always get a great deal on them at TJ Maxx and Home Goods! I received these plates and placemats for my birthday and I am in LOVE. I love the pop of glam the gold adds to my traditional look. It also ties in with my gold reindeer centerpieces. I think a tablescape always needs greenery and this Hearth and Hand by Magnolia for Target garland is perfect! It feels so organic and whimsical it’s just the perfect touch to make the room feel more alive. Also, I’m in love with my reindeer napkins. My mammaw embroidered these for me, and they are so special. There’s literally one for every reindeer.
i like to sprinkle a few accents throughout the house. Just to keep the Christmas cheer going! 😉
This little bar cart is in my foyer, and I always like to dress it up for all the different holidays. I added in this super whimsical Christmas tree to replace my usual pineapple that sits here. And then, I also felt like this was a great place to show off my mom’s pretty nativity scene that she let me borrow! Nativity scenes can be really pretty, and speak to the reason for the season. Sometimes we get lost in the hustle and bustle and constant shopping and gift giving throughout the season. It’s important to have a reminder for what the season is all about.
I didn’t buy a ton of the Hearth and Hand collection at Target, but I saw this mini tree in a vase and I had to have it! I just thought it was the perfect balance of holiday and rustic. I fell in love! So I have it displayed on my TV stand in my living room and it’s perfect!
If you’ve read any of my decor posts by now you know that I can never get enough throw pillows. They make a room so cozy though! I found this fun colorful throw pillow at Sam’s Club of all places, and I just love how bright and cheerful it is. I love having it in the living room for the holidays to make everything so fun and colorful!
