There are a few things every girl’s home needs. A Volcano candle, throw pillows, and a bar cart. I know, essentials, right? But overall, I think having an adorably styled bar cart is perfect for a dining room or living area. I associate a cute bar cart with entertaining and hospitality, and you guys know I’m all about being the ultimate hostess! So let’s talk about how you can style a fabulous bar cart on a budget!

Styling a bar cart is one of my favorite home decor projects. Sometimes you'll see bar carts all over the internet, but the bar cart itself costs $500. I'm here to tell you you don't have to spend a fortune to create a cute bar cart. Here's how to style a bar cart on a budget so you can create a space that's ready for entertaining.

The Actual Bar Cart

When I first started shopping for furniture and home decor, I stumbled across my bar cart at an antique store. I’m not even 100 percent sure how much I paid for it, but I know it was less than $100. Sure, you could buy your bar cart brand new, but I love buying vintage and antique decor because it always has a little more character and it’s definitely something that you won’t see in everyone else’s home because it has it’s own unique look. You can find a variety of bar carts in all different price ranges. The gold bar carts are trending right now, but I also have a wooden bar cart with mirrored trays that I love that sits in my entryway. I think one of the best things we can do is to take a current trend and give it our own spin based on our taste. So, if you want something less flashy than gold, you could always go with a white bar cart or a black wrought iron. Maybe a wood finish would look better with the look of your home if you don’t have a lot of  metals in your look and feel. I like flashy and shiny, so gold works for me. You can definitely find a bar cart on a budget!

Glassware

I think the glassware is everything when it comes to dressing up your bar cart. And your beverage, for that matter. A drink always tastes better when it’s in a pretty glass! ? You can add different kinds of glasses to your bar carts, because different glasses will be appropriate for different drinks. I have a few high ball glasses, and I also have some pineapple glasses that would be perfect for a margarita or a Sangria (Check out my fave sangria recipe!). These high ball glasses are acrylic, and I got the on sale at Sur La Table for their Lime Day Sale. You could definitely check out stores like TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Ross, Marshall’s or even Target, Kirland’s or Anthropologie for their end of the season sales. A lot of things that are considered “summer” items will be marked down, but they could totally be used year round.

Linens

Linens may sounds like a bit much for a bar cart, but you only need a couple to complete your look. If found this adorable bar cart themed dish towel set at TJ Maxx last year, and it’s perfect to hang over the front! I also picked up cocktail napkins that have flamingos and pineapples on them! You don’t have to have cloth napkins if you don’t want to. You can always just have really cute disposable napkins, plus those are easy to change out for the season. Not to mention, disposable napkins will be super affordable! You can find cute ones at TJ Maxx or Home Goods for like $3-$5.

Bar Cart Accessories

The accessories make all the difference! I love this Pineapple cocktail shaker and this vintage decanter that I found at an antique store. I’m telling you, if you look for the right stuff you can find super glam vintage decor that will fit in perfectly with the rest of your style. (Check out my tips for mixing vintage with modern decor. ) I think y0u will definitely need some decanters for your bar cart. They have all sorts of styles, tall and short depending on the look you want to achieve, and the height on all the other accessories. You could also find these at thrift stores or even vintage shops. Having other accessories like cocktail shakers, strainers, stirrers, muddlers, etc. You could even add in some coasters you could offer to your guests if you needed to. I also think books are a great way to add height to your bar cart. These could be entertaining or decor books, or maybe they are cookbooks. You may have books laying around the house that have pretty covers. Either way, as long as they are aesthetically pleasing, they can totally be stacked on your bar cart with your shaker or ice bucket on top of it to give it a bit of height and to add interest.
